The Connection Found In Light// Invisable Man by Ralph Ellison and "Cabeza" by Jean Michel Basquiat
The eternal struggle and contrast between light and dark can be seen in both works done by Ellison and Basquiat. The piercing yellow in Cabeza reminds one of being surronded by a desperate a fake light. In "Cabeza" the figure has no distinct outline, giving the impression of not being detedtable and in essence invisable if it weren't for the bright yellow. The man also has a large head shaped like a light bulb. The light is not only surronding the figure but it is also going inside of the figure giving the impression that the figure can fade and by molded by the light. The figure is also smiling, but looks very much in pain. In the Invisable Man, the main character is obbsessed with light, probably becuase he has such a dark and pessimistic personality and does not wish to fade into the shadows.
